Yesterday evening (10/4/2005) at 6:45 PM while swinging
at Joyce Park in SE Rochester my 2 year old
daughter asked me what the bird was that flew up
out of the grass surrounding the flood control pond.
To my amazement it was a Short-eared Owl,
the bird flew directly over our heads about
10 feet off the ground.
Perhaps more of us should play on swing sets.
Even if we don't see a "good bird" at least
we'll a have a lot of fun.
