Hi everyone,
My daughter Emma and I buzzed over to Waseca County tonight after work =
searching Moonan Marsh for the common moorhens reported by Julian =
Sellers on the 14th. We found them in short order and we were able to =
observe one adult and five young as they swam and walked along the edge =
of the cattails. Soras were calling frequently, and a Virginia rail =
called once. Another bonus was a black-crowned night heron preening and =
hunting the edge of the cattails. The latter two birds were misses for =
Julian, Brian Smith and I when we did a big day in the county in May. =
Also of interest were a LOT of Franklin's gulls on Clear Lake and the =
rooftop of the hotel next to the Super Wal-Mart. Most still had much =
black on their heads.

Good birding (and thanks Julian, for the great find!!!)
