Osprey do build and repair nests in late summer, probably as a way of =
staking a claim to the spot. Also may help lure females in spring.

We just noticed the same thing here in Itasca County. There is a large =
power line near our house. We were gone for a couple of weeks and now =
there is a new Osprey nest on one of the poles. We did see the Osprey =
by the nest today. I thought this was odd. Does anyone know why they =
would build a nest this late in the year?

She lives in Orono (western Hennepin County, near Lake Minnetonka) close =
to an osprey platform where nesting has occurred for the past number of =

In the past week, an osprey (she's unsure if it's an adult or juvenile) =
has started building a next across the street at the top of a power =
pole. =20
=20
She's curious if anyone can give her a hint about what might be going =
on? Are the adults switching over to another nest. Are other osprey =
moving into the neighborhood? Are the juveniles building.
