At 4:30 p.m. today I found a Short-eared Owl hunting over the grassland =
that borders the eastern boundary of the Sleepy Eye airport (along 260th =
Ave.). I saw it flying for several minutes and then it dropped out of =
sight. I was able to find it again and discovered that it had literally =
landed on the grass runway (okay, just a little pun) and I was able to =
watch it in the scope for about 20 minutes. Pretty cool bird, a new one =
for my Brown county list.

Good Birding,

Brian Smith
