I'd like to know what bird songs people have heard lately. I've heard:

@ Blue Jay
@ Am. Crow
@ H. Finch

Nothing exciting, but perhaps an indication that spring's on its way...?

In addition to yours, I've heard American Goldfinches, a few Downy=20
woodpeckers, and a Great Horned Owl in our neck of the woods (Ham Lake,=20
Anoka Co).

Tuesday:

Red-shouldered Hawk (immature) seen in Dakota Co. on Hwy 55 just west
of=20
CR42 (west), Same hawk was seen about a month ago just a few hundred
yards=20
to the east. From the back this bird looks just like a Red-tailed Hawk,
but=20
in the front the streaking is almost uniform from the chest down. This
bird=20
likes to perch on the wire, rather than the poles.

Wild Turkey (large tom) seen flying across Hwy 52 near 117th Street.

Steve Weston on Quiggley Lake in Eagan, MN

Subject: [mou] Red-Headed Woodpecker Nest Box Use

Thanks everyone for the response as to where to locate them.

Another question: Does anyone have any experience in providing nest
boxes=20
for them ? I have read varying info on the web with some sources saying
that=20
they regularily use them and others saying they shun nest boxes.

Considering the nationwide decline of red-headed woodpeckers, if they
DID=20
use nest boxes, perhaps an effort to provide nest boxes in ideal habitat

could stabalize the population.

Thanks
