This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, February 2nd.

In Duluth, the adult GYRFALCON in the Duluth harbor was still present
on January 29th on top of the Holcim elevator next to the Blatnik
Bridge. Ben Wieland and Dale Yerger reported a juvenile GYRFALCON on
the 28th at Canal Park.

In the Sax-Zim bog of St. Louis County, the NORTHERN HAWK OWL was
still along the McDavitt Road, and Chet Myers relocated the one along
the Stone Lake Road on the 2nd. Chris Elmgen reported Hawk Owl along
the Lavaque Road on the 27th, about two miles north of the Martin
Road in Duluth. Linda and Doug Kincaid reported a Hawk Owl on the
26th along Aitkin County Road 56, about 1.5 miles east of U.S.
Highway 169. They also found two SNOWY OWLS along Aitkin County Road
1, north of the diversion channel. A Snowy Owl was in west-central
Minneapolis on the 28th, along state highway 100 between 50th Street
south and county road 62. I have no recent information on the Snowys
seen earlier in the year at the Minneapolis - St. Paul airport.

On the 29th, four SHORT-EARED OWLS were still at the Beaver Creek WMA
in southwestern Fillmore County. To reach this location, drive south
from Spring Valley to county road 26. Drive west for three miles,
then south for one mile. Check the field opposite of the parking lot
with two rows of spruce trees

The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, February 9th.
