This is the third month of the Winter Owl Survey. My routes, 71A & B in
Beltrami county remain owl-less. (I did see Great Greys on route 71A
last year) Here is what was available for viewing...
Sunday 2/5 Beltrami County
4 American Crow
5 Common Raven
4 BB Magpie
21 Snow Bunting
1 Common Merganser (female) Knutson Dam on Cass Lake in Cass County
1 very fast and superbly elegant Red Fox crossing a field

Monday 2/6 Beltrami & Clearwater County
1 Bald Eagle, adult
3 BB Magpie, feeding from deer carcass
12 Pine Grosbeak
4 Red Crossbill
Ravens, rolling and calling in flight
and a few Crows
In town, the Mississippi inlet to Lake Bemidji is hosting the same line
up of waterfowl as last week.
9 Canada Geese
12 Mallard
2 Goldeneye, a pair
1 C. Merganser, male
