My apologies for this late post - I birded Sax Zim Sunday right before
heading for a conference. I'm reporting a Northern Hawk Owl seen from 133, .7
miles west of Cty. 5, which is on the west side of Meadowlands proper. The bird
was on the south side of the road and visible from the road. I don't believe
anyone has reported a hawk owl from this location.
I also saw a Snowy Owl just north of Meadowlands on Ct 29/229. It was
sitting on a hay bale to the east of the road, about .8 miles north of 133.
The other "good" birds were 5 Sharp-tailed Grouse , 2 in the road and 3 in a
roadside tree, on Arkola Av., west of Stickney, before the deciduous trees
which lead to the conifers.
Everything else I saw has been reported by others.
