This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, February 16th.

On February 10th, Dan Beran reported a GYRFALCON near the Wakota =20
bridge in South St Paul, Ramsey County. He watched it as it perched =20
on the steel highline pole that is just east of the intersection of =20
Hardman and Armour avenues.

A GREAT GRAY OWL was found in Aitkin County on the 15th by Dale =20
Yerger along state highway 200, seven miles west of Hill City. On =20
February 10th, a Great Gray Owl was seen in Lake County by Michael =20
Hendrickson on Lake County Road 2 between Greenwood Lake and Louey Road.

A NORTHERN HAWK OWL continues to be seen near the Gooseberry State =20
Park visitors' center in Lake County. Another Northern Hawk Owl has =20
been seen since January 25th in Brainerd, Crow Wing County and was =20
present as recently as February 10th. This is just north of the =20
junction of Crow Wing County Road 48 and highway 371. On February =20
13th, Farrel Graves found a Northern Hawk Owl on Aitkin County Road =20
56 about two miles east of U.S. Highway 169, and a second Hawk Owl =20
about a mile farther east. The Northern Hawk Owl in Duluth along the =20
Lavaque Road was still present on the 16th, a mile north of the =20
Martin Road. Karen Sussman found a Northern Hawk Owl in northwestern =20
St. Louis County on the 10th, along state highway 73, a mile and a =20
half north of county road 22, and another about a mile and a half =20
west of Highway 73 along the Lund Road.  The Northern Hawk Owl along =20
McDavitt Road in the Sax-Zim bog was relocated on the 11th by Cheri =20
Fox, about two miles north of the Sax Road. And the Northern Hawk Owl =20=

along the Stone Lake Road in the Sax-Zim Bog was relocated by several =20=

people on the 12th.

John Ellis relocated the SNOWY OWL on the 10th along St. Louis County =20=

Road 29, a mile north of county road 133. And a Snowy Owl is still =20
being seen three miles south of Palisade on Aitkin County Road County 5.

Jan and John Green saw a BOREAL OWL in their Duluth yard off the =20
North Shore Road, east of the Bergquist Road on the 16th. This is the =20=

first time they=92ve seen the bird since the 7th.

BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS were seen over the weekend along the =20
McDavitt Road, about 2.5 miles north of St. Louis County Road 28.

A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was found by Lloyd Scherer on the 14th in =20
Grand Marais, Cook County, near the Harbor View Apartments.

And on February 11th there was a Hermit Thrush along the Bluff Trail =20
west of the Old Cedar Avenue bridge in Bloomington. It was about 100 =20
yards past the third boardwalk.
