Found 3 swans (trumpeters I believe) sleeping on the ice at Prescott. =
Fairly close to shore.

Went down 35 and crossed to Redwing. Lots of eagles and hawks on the =
way.=20

The river really froze over Friday night at Covill Park in Redwing. =
Still lots of Eagles around the whole area in trees. Many visible from =
the park. They were diving on the Mallards, Golden Eye and Common =
Mergansers in the patch of open water as you enter the park.

At the Lake Pepin turn out on 61, there were a few patches of open =
water. A large flock of Golden Eyes were trying to relax, but 4 eagles 2 =
adults and 2 immature kept diving on them. Sometimes the fear would get =
to them and instead of diving and trying to move out of the way quickly, =
large numbers would take to the air. It was quite a site. Lots of other =
eagles in the area on the ice near the small open patches.

Continued to Wabasha. Several eagles sitting at the patches of open =
water along the way. Only saw 1 eagle from the river drive.

Crossed into Nelson and went to Alma Wisconsin. There was the usual =
feeding frenzy that happens when the rest of the river is frozen. 25 to =
30 eagles in the air and many more in the trees on the island.

Didn't really keep count but estimate about 250 eagles total on the trip =
and numerous hawks mostly red tails.
