Today I found a female Dickcissel with food in its mouth at a remote =
spot in SW Carlton County.
>From Hwy 27 west of Moose Lake turn north on Co. Rd. 12. After about a =
mile turn left onto=20
Co. Rd. 19, a gravel road, where Co. Rd. 12 turns to the right. After =
Co. Rd. 19 turns north take=20
first left at Butkiewicz Rd. Go west a short distance to the entrance =
to the farm and bear right and=20
travel a short distance north past the farm. The bird was in the bushes =
on the right side of the road.
There were no other Dickcissels that I heard, just this one bird that =
seemed to be scolding me with=20
a short chuck note.
I also found Dickcissels in southern Crow Wing County west of Co. Rd. 45 =
and south of Co. Rd. 2.
