I also sent this message to rba@moumn.org, so perhaps this is redundant.
My companion, Paul Ziemer, and I were traveling the Great River Road (Hwy
61/26) down the Mississippi River to MS and he spotted three immature
whooping cranes on 6/19/2006 just south of Reno, MN, near the IA border.
There were marsh/ponds on both sides of the road and they were on the
right/west side of the road as we were going south. We were able to view
them walking and swimming for about 15-20 minutes before they flew off.
