What a great time of year it is for birding! Unfortunately, I haven't=
 had much free time to look for birds because I have four final exams =
at Crown College this upcoming week. I have found some good birds aro=
und my yard, though, and have managed to take one trip to Pelican Lake=
=0D=0A=0D=0ANo luck on the previously found great-tailed grackle at P=
elican Lake, but I did find a RED-NECKED GREBE, WESTERN GREBE, LEAST S=
ANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, and LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER. YELLOW-HEADE=
D BLACKBIRDS are abundant around the lake.=0D=0A=0D=0AFrom my backyard=
 today, I found a MARBLED GODWIT in a flooded farmfield along with the=
 usual shorebird suspects. There was also a CASPIAN TERN "fishing" in=
 the lake in my backyard today. After he captured a fish, a ring-bill=
ed gull began heckling him, and the fish fell from his bill but he was=
 able to snatch it again before it hit the water. It was really fun t=
o watch.=0D=0A=0D=0AWood and Rue Anemones are in full bloom and the Am=
erican toads are calling. What a great time of year!=0D=0A=0D=0AGood =
birding!=0D=0AKeith Pulles, Wright County=
