Jim Otto and I visited Hok-Si-La park in Lake City today and tallied 22
warbler species - the majority of these could have been observed from a
lawn chair at the boat landing north of Hok-Si-La:
Northern Parula
Tennessee (abundant)
Blue-Winged
Golden-Winged
Nashville
Yellow
Chestnut-Sided (abundant)
Magnolia
Cape May (several present in the picnic area)
Blackburnian
Yellow-Rumped (still abundant)
Black-Throated Green
Palm
Bay-Breasted
Blackpoll
Black-and-white
Redstart
Ovenbird
Northern Waterthrush
Common Yellowthroat
Wilson's
Canada
Also observered were Olive-Sided Flycatcher, Philadelphia Vireo (2)
Hundreds of Shorebirds were present on the rapidly submerging mudflats
at Lake Byllesby, most noteworthy were 2 Red-Necked Phalaropes. 100+
Dunlin, many Dowitchers.
At 180th St Marsh was another Red-Necked Phalarope, also 3 Wilson's
Phalaropes, 12 Dunlin, Baird's, Solitary, L. Yellowegs.
