>From the bike trails at Elm Creek Park Reserve in northern Hennepin =
County, scouting today for Saturday's St. Paul Audubon Biking and =
Birding field trip, I heard (among others):

Sandhill Crane
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Alder Flycatcher
Willow Flycatcher
Veery
Bell's Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
Ovenbird
Mourning Warbler
Scarlet Tanager
Only Clay-colored, Field, Song, and Swamp sparrows; no meadowlarks or =
Bobolinks (but I didn't stop and listen at all of the grassy fields)

The Bell's Vireo was singing on the north side of the paved trail, about =
0.1 miles (or more) west of Goose Lake Road (north of Elm Creek Road). =
Going west from Goose Lake Road, the trail swings left, then right and =
uphill. At the crest of the incline, the trail turns slightly left and =
downhill. On the right is a medium-sized ash tree with dense foliage. =
The vireo was singing from the dense brush behind and to the right of =
the ash tree, about 50 yards from the trail. Park staff asked me to =
remind everyone always to stay on the trails.
