last night, during a brief respite from 6 days of howling winds and =
unfriendly cold, i stepped outside to take in the night sky. to my =
surprise, a male saw-whet was singing in the distance, beneath the =
tallus of mt. oberg. he didn't sing the persistent bouts of april, but =
