Watched and listened to a nicely marked Townsend's at Afton State Park this
morning about 11:30. The bird was singing and feasting on cedar berries.
Location: pine and cedar plantation rows 1/4 mile west of the trail shelter
on the north end of the park. Follow the trail from the shelter west
through the "prairie" section to the row of pines. There are often
red-breasted nuthatches here; they were present today also.

This bird will make it onto another birder's Christmas Count list as some
other birders came along behind us while the bird was still present and
singing.

Happy Birding,
Michelle Piotrowski
