I just received a phone call from Mark Ochs, who was with Jim Mattsson and
others at Pt. Douglas Park, Washington County. They were observing another
adult Slaty-backed Gull, on the ice, on the St. Croix River. The directions were
north, and west of the restroom facility. Distance was about 500 yards.
Point Douglas Park is on the Minnesota side of the river, across from Prescott,
Wisconsin. (Confluence of the St Croix and Mississippi Rivers.) A spotting
scope would be helpful to see this bird.

They believe from their initial observations that this is a "new" bird, due
to paler streaking on the head, from the bird that briefly visited the Twin
Cities between December 2-13.

More information will likely be posted later.
