Last day of birding with John Schwartz who lives in southern Florida.

Highlights:
-8 Sharp-tailed Grouse displaying on a lek 4 tenths of a mile south of =
Tamarack, MN on Co. Rd 16 on east side of the road.
-Gray-crowned Rosy Finches (3) still at the feeder in Cloquet Minnesota.
-Varied Thrushes (male and female) in Silver Bay, Minnesota
-500+ Bohemian Waxwings along the West Knife River Road. Take Hwy 61 =
out of Duluth and drive towards Two Harbors. Take a left on the =
Homestead Rd and drive north on the Homestead RD to a "T". Take a left =
at the "T" and watch for waxwings along this stretch of road. We saw the =
waxwings on the far west side of the W. Knife River Road. =20
-Gray Catbird still surviving at the feeder in Silver Bay!!
-White-thr. Sparrow was at the feeder in Silver Bay as well.

*Kim Eckert Minnesota Birding Weekend Trips search for the Great Gray =
Owls at the Hedbom Rd on Jan 27 with no luck, I searched for the Great =
Gray Owls on Jan. 28th with no luck and I know of other groups who =
searched for the owls as well with no luck and today Jan. 29th even in =
the snowy cloudy morning NO Great Gray Owls were to be found on the =
Hedbom Rd. So these owls may of moved on or it's a streak of bad luck =
for a lot of birders who searched for them over the weekend.

* I posted some photos of Varied Thrush and B. Waxwings on my website =
under recent sightings. Gotta thank Laura Erickson for the Nikon =
telescope she gave me a few weeks back, I am getting much brighter =
pictures when I digiscope.
