This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, June 7th, 2007 sponsored
by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
There have been very few reports since last week's flurry of vagrants
and late-spring migrants in Duluth. The COMMON MOORHEN at Indian Point
campground in west Duluth was last reported on June 1st. Janet Riegle
relocated the PIPING PLOVER on the 2nd near the Sky Harbor Airport at
Park Point. None of the other species of interest from Park Point have
been reported since May 31st.
Four AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were seen on the 5th flying over downtown
Duluth. John Green saw two SANDHILL CRANES on the 4th in a field off the
Homestead Road (CR 42), just north of the MN Highway 61 expressway. Jan
Green saw a PEREGRINE FALCON at Agate Bay in Two Harbors on the 4th.
The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, June 14th.
The telephone number of the Duluth Rare Bird Alert is 218-834-2858.
Information about bird sightings may be left following the recorded
message.
