This is the Duluth Birding Report for Thursday, June 21st, 2007

A RED-THROATED LOON was found by Peder Svingen on the 20th at Park Point
in Duluth. It was seen from the viewing platform between the recreation
area and the Sky Harbor Airport.

A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was found by Sharon Lind on the 17th in Lake
County along the Stanley Road (CR 9), 2.1 miles west of MN Highway 61.
It was still present on the 21st. Mike Steffes reported five
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLERS on the 16th at Tettegouche State Park,
along the ridgetop trail north and south of the service road off Lax
Lake Road.

A BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKER was found on the 18th along the Echo Trail (CR
116) across from the Lake Jeanette boat landing in northern St. Louis
County. Another was seen on the 20th west of Crane Lake along FR 203,
one mile south of FR 491. An EASTERN TOWHEE was found in the same
location. Several RED CROSSBILLS and a few WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were
found this week in several locations along the western end of the Echo
Trail and along FR 203. RED CROSSBILLS were also found on the 21st along
the Buzz Ryan Forest Road west of CR 4, in the Boulder Lake Management
Area north of Duluth.

Bob Williams heard a CERULEAN WARBLER in Carlton County on the 15th
along CR 103 at the north fork of the Nemadji River. Bob also found
several DICKCISSELS at the junction of CR 12 and CR 136 just west of the
town of Kettle River, and others south of town on CR 136.
