HI:
When I read Alyssa's posting it brought a lot of memories of when I was =
beginning to venture out and bird other places rather than bird the =
same old park day in and day out near my house. While in the 9th grade =
I met Kim Eckert thru Larry Weber and Kim did a lot for me during those =
years (9th -12th grades) by picking me up to chase a rarity or go =
birding in some far off corner of Minnesota. I owe a lot to Kim Eckert =
for everything he did for me and I hope someone in the Twin Cities do =
the same for Alyssa as Kim Eckert did for me for all those years. I =
learn a ton from Kim and now I bird professionally for OBServTours, =
organize my own Lake Superior Birding Trips, and get hired out to guide =
during the Spring/Winter season from birders all over the globe and a =
lot of my success was because of Kim Eckert. I have yet to meet Alyssa =
but she has that drive & enthusiasm when it comes to birding! I know if =
my family were living in the Twin Cities, I would do the same for her as =
Kim Eckert did for me. SO If you live near Alyssa PLEASE give her a =
call and take her down to Lake Byllesby so she can see those =
White-fronted Geese and other migrants!! If there is one candidate for =
the 2007 Young Birder Award my vote would go to this young woman! =20
PS: Do not charge her for gas! Give back and support the young birders =
out there!
