I found the Northern Mockingbird reported by Nancy Jackson through Jim Lind.  I went up to the St. Louis County hamlet of Hoyt Lakes today, November 20 and saw the bird right away in the back yard of the pink house on Elmwood St.  From Cty. 110 take Suffolk Rd south to Elmwood and turn left.  The pink house in in the middle of the block on the left.  The bird has been defending the crab apple tree in the back yard for about a month.  The tree is tucked tight against the back of the house making it hard to see from the street.  The homeowners were working in their front yard and graciously allowed me to go to the back of their house.  The lady indicated that the bird is most active in the mornings from 8:00 to about noon.  I saw it at 3:15, at 1st in the yard behind the host yard.  It then flew to the crab apple tree for a late afternoon snack.

The homeowners are aware that this bird has been posted on the internet and that others besides me may be wending their way up north.  I trust you'll all play nice and respect the property of these lovely folks.
