The Long-tailed Jaeger was still present most of Friday morning at its
favored location. The bird was not present during the early afternoon at
least until 2:30pm when I left and I'm not sure if anyone saw it after
this.
Also of note was a juvenile Sabine's Gull that flew by me at 11:18AM flying
over the Headquarters pool in the Agassiz NWR. It was last seen flying
N/NW over the SW portion of Mud Lake. I was at this location for an
additional hour after the initial sighting and saw no sign of it returning.
The Burrowing Owls that had nested this summer at Glacial Ridge NWR have
now apparently left the vicinity of their burrow.
Also of interest at Glacial Ridge:
Among the hundreds of sparrows (mainly Savannah) along the diagonal cattle
company road was a single Chestnut-collared Longspur. The longspur was seen
about 280 yards NW of the large gravel pit pond.
Loggerhead Shrike along CR44 2 miles south of Hwy2.
While observing the shrike I stepped a few feet into the ditch and flushed
a group of rails that included 5 Soras and 3 Yellow Rails. They flew
about 30 feet and landed at the edge of the harvested wheat field along the
south side of the road.
