This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, April 10th 2008.
On the 7th, a CINNAMON TEAL was at the Bass Ponds area of Bloomington,
Hennepin County. By the late afternoon it had moved out to Long Meadow
Lake, and was seen to depart late in the evening and has not been
reported since.
On April 9th, a SAY'S PHOEBE was discovered in Sauk Rapids, Benton
County. It was just north of the new Mississippi River bridge in a strip
of vegetation between the road and the river.
Ten WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS were at Big Stone Lake in Big Stone County on
the 5th.
A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was along Park Point in Duluth on the 7th, at
37th Street South, and on the 9th it had moved down to the recreational
area.
Other spring arrivals include TUNDRA SWAN, OSPREY, RED-NECKED GREBE,
WESTERN GREBE, CATTLE EGRET, BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON, BAIRD'S
SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, LEAST SANDPIPER, BONAPARTE'S GULL,
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, HERMIT THRUSH, EASTERN TOWHEE, and CHIPPING
SPARROW.
The next scheduled update of this tape is Thursday, April 17th 2008.
