Took out a group of birders from Illinois. The trip was a 4 hour short trip to look for some birds they missed during the festival.
-Varied Thrush: At the Aleaxander feeder in Duluth. Need to call first to view the bird.
-Bohemian Waxwings: At the very end of 52nd Ave East in the lakeside neaighborhood of Duluth. This area sits right below Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve.
-Glaucous Gulls: 10+
-Thayer's Gulls: Adult and 2nd winter
-Iceland Gull: one adult.
Also we saw a Great Horned Owl in the woods next to the Alexander's residence being mobbed by crows.
There were at least 300 gulls at the landfil from 10:30am to 11:30am
Not a bad 4 hours of birding. Also thank you to all the emails I been getting congratulating me and the staff for the work we put in on the festival.
