[mou] dream birding trip

I am a novice birder and have not taken many birding trips yet. I am going to Costa Rica in the beginning of April this year and am very
excited! This is not purely a birding trip but I will be doing a fair bit over the 12 days. A few of my many target species are Prevost's
Ground-Sparrow, White-whiskered Puffbird, Golden-hooded Tanager, and Orange-collared Manakin. This is a dream birding trip because
many of the species will be brand new to me.
However, if I could forgo this trip and pick any location in the world I think I would try Antarctica and the surrounding ocean and islands.
My favorite type of bird that I have never seen is the Albatross (especially Short-tailed which I'm not sure would be that far south). Of
course I would also love nothing more than to see penguins, sheathbills and petrels.
If I were instead going for number of species I think I would stick with the tropics. East Africa would be an exciting trip and holds lots of
diversity. The Peruvian Amazon at Manu would also be amazing with even more diversity. Suprisingly, Columbia is the record holder for
number of species with an astonishing 1,821 at last count, but Peru is second 1,781, both more than Brazil!
Another location of great interest to me would be New Zealand with many endemics and interesting birds such as Keas and Kiwis.
For me, any trip that is in an area with pristine habitat that I have never been is a "dream birding trip".
Great Topic,
