On an unusually mild January day, 12 participants in the CBC found
fewer than usual number of species but a relatively high count of individual
birds - 37 species, 5468 individuals.
Starlings, house sparrows, pigeons and trumpeter swans were especially
abundant. We missed robins (why??), cedar waxwing, snow bunting, red
shouldered hawks. CW stands for observed during the count week but
not on the CBC date itself.
