While this article focuses on ducks and pheasants it should be noted that all grassland species will be adversely affected by the loss of CRP and WRP lands. There is good data showing an increase in Henslow's Sparrows with increasing CRP lands for example.
Dennis Anderson's column in the Sunday Star Tribune explores how this issue might play out in Minnesota.
North Dakota has already lost 50% of its CRP lands. Less habitat = less birds = less fun.
