All,
Regarding my bird ID query - thanks to the many who responded!
The consensus was Tennessee Warbler with a "black chinstrap" was simply
caused by a ruffling or separation of the feathers - exposing darker
feathers, skin or shadows below.
[Also - this bird was in my flowering tree - which jives with a
Tennessee Warbler according to Sibley guide. Although - I did try - I
did not get a chance to record its song.]
Again - thanks! I have added it to my yard-list for Minneapolis.
