[mou] Itasca County - Three-toed, Boreal Chickadee, Bohemians, migrants, and others

Earl Orf and I decided to go enjoy this unique time of year when summer and winter birds can be seen side-by-side.  It was a 35 species day, with several new migrants, including the following: Three-toed Woodpecker (male) - CR 128 in the state-owned spruce bog on the south side of the roadBoreal Chickadee - CR 153, just north of the 'Thompson' placeGreat Horned Owl - Veterans' Park in Grand RapidsRed Crossbills (5; 4 males) - Veterans' Park in Grand RapidsBrown Creeper - Veterans' Park in Grand RapidsBohemian Waxwings (~40) - Veterans' Park in Grand RapidsRuddy Duck (female) - Prairie River access off of CR B in Grand RapidsTrumpeter Swan - 2 at Prairie River on 169, 2 flying near Bowstring, 2 below Winnie DamCommon Redpolls (small flocks) - my house in Bovey, Veterans' Park, CohassetBald Eagles - everywhere! Other waterfowl seen on Mississippi River and/or at Grand Rapids sewage ponds:  Canada Goose, Mallard, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup, Hooded Merganser, Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Pied-billed Grebe (3 total) Other new migrants (at least to us!)
