After enjoying Big Stone & Lac Qui Parle with Nathan yesterday, spent day two of the birding vacation here in Sherburne & Mille Lacs Counties, scouting for Saturday's MOU trip.

124 species included 23 warblers - 20 on Mahnomen Trail in Sherburne NWR - also a singing Connecticut at Kathio State Park (first parking lot). Missed Bay-breasted, Pine and Mourning among regulars - no Ceruleans or Hooded present on Blue Hill Trail in the refuge (yet?).

Our apologies regarding not sharing the Ferruginous location yesterday (we were much more concerned about the Say's Phoebe) - it was also seen near the corner of 15 & 40 in Big Stone Refuge. Take 19 past the headquarters, this becomes 15 shortly, proceed a couple of miles to 40 (first right hand turn). The bird was seen along the trail to the left. Nathan had excellent scope looks at high power - noted the size, white body, V underneath and the red back (among other details) - understand it was nearly a ringer for the Sibley illustration. I of course, was searching for godwits and plovers in the ponds, so only glanced at the bird briefly.

This is being sent from Nathan's home computer, will not be back in the office until Sunday.

Good birding to all!
