This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, May 22nd 2008.

A BRANT was found in Duluth on the 19th and it was still present today,
feeding in the grass near the stage at Bayfront Park on the waterfront
near the Duluth Aquarium.

A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was in Big Stone County on the 17th. The exact
location was not noted by the observers, but the bird was in a puddle in
a plowed corn field northeast of Ortonville in an area bounded by 390th
Street, 660th Avenue, US Highway 12, and 715th Avenue.

At Big Stone NWR in Lac Qui Parle County, two WHITE-FACED IBIS flushed
from the ditch along the duck-banding road on the 17th.

A BURROWING OWL was in Clay County on the 22nd, in a development area
near Village Green Drive in eastern Moorhead.

On the 15th, a BLACK SCOTER was at the Browerville Sewage Ponds in Todd
County. The ponds are on the southeast side of town just off U.S.
Highway 71.

Three CATTLE EGRETS were at the edge of a small marsh east of Lura Lake
in Blue Earth County on the 16th.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was along on Clyde Avenue in the Smithville
neighborhood of western Duluth on the 22nd, about a block from Grand
Avenue.

Bruce Fall found a male KENTUCKY WARBLER on the 16th at Murphy-Hanrehan
Park in Scott County. The location is west of the eastern boundary horse
trail between trail markers 17 and 16. Another Kentucky Warbler was in
the Louisville Swamp area of Scott County on the 22nd, along the
Mazomani Trail 3/4 of a mile from the trailhead on the west side of US
Highway 169. And a Kentucky Warbler was heard at Williams Nature Park in
Blue Earth County on the 22nd, near the second kiosk of the right-hand
trail.

On May 17th, a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was in Bob Jessen's backyard along
Turtle Creek in Austin, Mower County, but it was present for only the
afternoon.

A first-spring male SUMMER TANAGER was at Lissa Grover's thistle feeder
on the 15th in Grand Marais, Cook County. Another was on the north side
of Avon Hills Forest SNA in Stearns County on the 17th.

A WESTERN TANAGER was in the trees along Lake Vadnais, Ramsey County on
the 16th at the very end of the road though the park. Another was seen
on the 22nd at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen, Carver
County.
