'Rare Regular' in Minnesota

Two side-by-side images of third-cycle Larus glaucoides kumlieni at Canal Park, Duluth, 15 January 2011. Note bill size and shape with subterminal dark ring, lemon yellow eye, and ventral wing tip pattern. This winter visitor from the land of snow and ice seemed to appreciate the warm sunshine almost as much as the shivering photographer!
