Occasional in Lake County in the Spring season

Very small, Mallard-sized geese superficially similar to the numerous nearby Canada Geese but about half their size. Bill very short, slightly dish-shaped. Short necked -- length of "black sock" less than twice the width. Body generally a bit duskier and a colder brown than the Canadas.
