'Rare Regular' in Minnesota
After enjoying an extended look at this 1st cycle Iceland another opportunity presented itself when a 1st cycle Thayer's landed near the Iceland on the ice of the Minnesota River. This comparison demonstrates a few differences between these two gulls the 1st cycle Thayer's dark centered tertials with the folded primaries darker than the body, while the 1st cycle Iceland shows patterned tertials and pale primaries similar to the body. Both of these birds have been seen regularly on the Minnesota River, Black Dog Lake, and Old Cedar Bridge.
