St. Nick dropped off a surprise gift today. Laura and I took our annual Christmas "eagle" viewing drive over to Hastings/Prescott area and at 2:00pm spotted an adult gray phase Gyrfalcon perched on a power pole in exact same area as last spring - Mile marker 216 on Hiway 55. This is just east of intersection with CR42 where CR42 goes north. This is likely the same bird as was present for several weeks beginning on Feb. 3 of this year. On our return from Hastings at 3:00pm, the bird was perched to the west at intersection of Hi 55 and Courthouse Rd.
