'Rare Regular' in Minnesota
This adult male on the Minnesota side of the Superior Entry channel was first found here this season by Karl Bardon on 25 December; also see Peder Svingen's images and comments posted 26 December on Recently Seen. Besides this bird's more crescent-shaped facial mark, its back/scapular pattern, and the blunt "finger" extending down between the chest and sides, also note its different head shape and the purple (rather than green) iridescence on the head compared to male Common Goldeneye.
