Bufflehead in Winona County

Common in Winona County in the Spring season

This male Bufflehead has been hanging out at the spillway along Prairie Island road since at least Dec 31st when I first saw it. It appears to have a damaged right wing and probably can't fly. The open water just below the spillway where it spent the winter was at one time as small about 15 feet by 25 feet. Apparently it has had plenty of food to eat because it looks healthy.
