'Casual' in Minnesota
California Gull in Clay county. In flight, the primaries appeared all dark with no discernible "window" on the inner primaries and the rump was barred. The greater coverts have extensive white fringes and this was especially evident in flight as they contrasted strongly with the primaries and gave the wings a striking pattern. At rest, the pale neck and somewhat blotchy flanks were evident, though this photo is somewhat blurry. Also, the eye is completely dark.
