Common in St. Louis County in the Winter season

A successful Sax-Zim bog trip over the last 2 days included photo opportunities with Gray Jays, Boreal chickadees, Red-breasted nuthatches (all at the Admiral Rd. feeders) as well as many photos of 4 Great Gray Owls hunting on Admiral Rd. between 3:15 and 3:30 pm. A private session with one of the GGOs near the Admiral feeders at 9:30 the next day was even better because of much better light even though still overcast. The Ruffed Grouse was seen 100' South of the railroad tracks on McDavitt. Also saw the rare bird Gerald Hoekstra on Wednesday, though he could be seen just about anywhere this year.
