Mark Junghans found 10 American Avocets at Lake Itasca in western Ramsey. Directions: This is west of CR83/Armstrong Blvd. Park at the lot at Okapi St and 156th Ave; where the trail splits at the lot, go left for a "good portion of a mile" to the lake. There is a viewing bench there. This picture was taken from private property across the lake.
