Uncommon in Hennepin County in the Summer season
One of the Merlins at Acacia Park Cemetery. This was one of two that I saw there Friday morning. It had just flown in with its fresh kill, a bird of some sort, and proceeded to tear it apart. The sequence of photos that I took show it downing feet and all. (I posted a more graphic one on the Minnesota Birding page on Facebook yesterday.) When I was at the cemetery earlier in the week I saw three Merlins, and I thought I heard a fourth calling behind me somewhere. I'm guessing several are juveniles fledged this summer.
