'Casual' in Minnesota

Attached is a photo I took on July 9th of a western grebe and Clark's grebe pair each with one chick on their backs and three chicks swimming with the parents. The Clark's parent may be a hybrid, as there is no distinct white line above the eye, though the bill is Clark's.

Location: Big Stone County, Lake Thielke. Take US75 north from Ortonville and turn east on CR62. CR 62 will curve around the south shore of the lake - look for the birds here.
