Sharp-tailed Sandpiper in Carver County
2016-09-20

'Accidental' in Minnesota - Five or fewer records in Carver County for the Fall season

Sharp-tailed Sandpiper is behind two Dowitchers in the left-center of the original image, but lit by sunshine. Original finder is not known to me. I had birded the location the day prior, and came back with a new camera to find 10+ birders and scopes and a Peregrine chasing Teal. The Sharp-tailed Sandpiper was identified by its rufous chest and cap, white eyebrow, and bright markings on wings and back. Comparison with Pectoral SP showed obvious differences in coloration.
