Spruce Grouse in Lake County

'Rare Regular' in Minnesota

This male Spruce Grouse was actively displaying along a forest road in the Superior National Forest on the snowy morning of April 17th. He performed the flutter flight display often, and also did some tail swishing. A female watched from 100 yards away. He interspersed the display with feeding bouts in the Black Spruces.
