Common in Dakota County in the Fall season

Light Phase Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) found by T.R. Michels, Saturday, November 14, about 10:30, along Black Dog Road, east of the power plant, on a powerline pole next to the road, between the cement ponds and the east sluice gate. This bird was previously seen the week before, east of the west sluice gate, but west of the viewing plaform, between the road and the river. Interesting because we'd seen a Harlan's subspecies here three years ago.
