Vermilion Flycatcher in Yellow Medicine County

'Accidental' in Minnesota - Five or fewer records in Yellow Medicine County for the Fall season

Vermilion Flycatcher (presumably a one-year-old male) found this afternoon along 110th St just S of 250th Ave; this location is just 1/2 mile from the South Dakota state line. The bird was leaning into a strong south wind at the time, resulting in its atypical horizontal posture. It moved south along the fence line and ditch on E side of 110th and was lost from sight after about 5 minutes about 1/4 mile S of 250th. Garrett Wee arrived an hour or so after our sighting and was unable to relocate it.
