A large portion of the passerine migration has moved through the northwest already, and much of the rest must surely be thinking about going as we anticipate the first possible frost tonight. Most of the warblers are gone already along with the swallows, and a lot of the flycatchers.

From Warroad in Roseau County on September 10, Beth Siverhus reported TURKEY VULTURE, BALD EAGLE, NORTHERN HARRIER, COOPER'S HAWK, FRANKLIN’S GULLS, BONAPARTE’S GULLS, RING-BILLED GULLS, a few RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS, one BALTIMORE ORIOLE, BROWN THRASHER, CEDAR WAXWING, MERLIN, AMERICAN KESTREL, GREATER YELLOWLEGS, and BELTED KINGFISHER.

Here is Pennington County , we still have a few RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS and a RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER coming to the feeder.

On September 7, Shelley Steva and I found a few shorebirds at the Crookston WTP in Polk County, including KILLDEER, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, and WILSON’S SNIPE. There were a few BARN SWALLOWS there also.

At Mahnomen City Park on September 7, we found a COMMON NIGHTHAWK, RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, and YELLOW-THROATED VIREO. At the Waubun WTP, there was an AMERICAN BITTERN , a GREEN HERON, and one EASTERN KINGBIRD. Elsewhere in Mahnomen County we found an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE.

Dennis Weisenborn reported a CONNECTICUT WARBLER and a NORTHERN PARULA in his yard along the Red River in Moorhead , Clay County, on September 11.

From Elbow Lake in Grant County, Charlene Nelson reported a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO on August 30, and a COMMON NIGHTHAWK on September 6.
