This is the Duluth Birding Report for June 3rd, 2010 sponsored by the Minnesota Ornithologists' Union.
With the breeding season underway, there were very few reports from the area during past week. Karl Bardon saw a PACIFIC LOON on the 28th flying northeast at Stoney Point.
Over the past weekend in Aitkin County, Kim Risen reported two GREAT GRAY OWLS on CR 18 and the Pietz's Road, two SHORT-EARED OWLS at CR 18 and CR 5 and at the Pietz’s Road, and 22 YELLOW RAILS at the McGregor Marsh. Jason Caddy found a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER on the 30th just north of Aitkin at the VFW wayside rest.
